The heart of cosmopolitan life beats on
the beaches of Poros. Starting from Stavro
and reaching up to the west pier of the new
harbor of Poros which is 1,020 feet long.
Along the pier, the visitor sees plenty of
tourist shops, cafes, restaurants, taverns,
grill houses, many bars with Greek and foreign
music and the local movie theater.
The
cultural center, exhibition center, the Chatzopouleios
pubic library, the Archaeological Museum,
City Hall, all banks and services on the island
are also found in the same area.
The
starting point for buses and taxis is located
in the central beach area. There is access
to boats heading towards Galata and the neighbouring
coastal area. There is frequent transportation
service all day long throughout the island.
Buses depart every hour and boats every ten
minutes.
On
the seaside you will find travel agencies,
ticketing offices for ferry and speed boats,
three pharmacies, telephone companies, clothing
and shoe stores, a supermarket, minimarket,
fish market, bike and moped rentals, the press
agency, disposable supplies and provisions
for boats and whatever other shop you may
have in mind.
The
beach of Poros, almost all day long, especially
at night, is full of life and people strolling
on the pier along the sea.
