Ancient history...
...During historical times,
Trizinia is Dorian along with Methana and
Kalavria. Those days, Trizinia was part of
Argos and from there it seems that they accepted
the Dorians as their inhabitants.
At the Dorian
descent or a little later on, the citizens
of Trizinia established the cities of Alikarnassos,
Mindos and Theagkela on the southwest coast
of Asia Minor.
According
to the most prevailing version, the founding
of the Amphictiony of Kalavria goes back to
the Geometric and Archaic eras. Having the
temple of Poseidon as the base in Kalavria,
the Amphictionic League is set up as a religious
and, in the end, political federation. Ermioni,
Epidavros, Aegina, Prasies, Orhomenos and
Athens were the seven city members.
Its
purpose was to resolve any disputes as well
as for commercial transactions. It reached
its peak from the last prehistoric years up
until the 5th century B.C.
Later
on, inhabitants of Kalavria along with the
cities that form the Amphictiony create Sibari
located in southern Italy, offering the name
Kalavria throughout its neighboring area taken
from the Amphictiony of Kalavria.
That
is how the residents of Trizinia and Kalavria
turned out to be the founders of Alikarnasos,
Mindos and Theagkela in Asia Minor, Sibari
and the surrounding area of Kalavria in southern
Italy along with the municipalities of Sfittos,
Anaflistos and Pithaes in Attica.
